What products should I use to clean my EQUIDRY coat?
For best results, use Nikwax Tech Wash to safely clean and remove dirt without damaging the waterproof coating. Avoid harsh detergents and fabric softeners.
Do I need to reproof my coat after washing?
Yes. After washing, apply a reproofing spray suitable for technical clothing to restore your equestrian coat's waterproof capabilities.
How should I dry my EQUIDRY coat after cleaning?
Always allow your equestrian coat to fully air dry in a warm, well-ventilated room. Do not tumble dry, dry clean, or place it near/directly on a radiator or heat source. Avoid direct sunlight too.
How do I use the two-way zips correctly?
For normal use, you must:
- Place both zip sliders at the bottom of the zip.
- Insert the free zip edge into the very bottom slider. Make sure it’s completely inserted, sitting firmly in the slider. You should feel a soft click when its in place.
- Hold the bottom slider then pull up the upper slider to close the zip.
- You can move the bottom slider up and down as required.
When mounting/dismounting you must:
- Fully open your side zips.
- Open the main front zip from the bottom so the bottom zipper sits above the top of the hip/on the waist.
When riding we strongly advise you check your zips to ensure there is no uneven pressure placed on any one zip and both side zips are fully open as excess pressure could cause the teeth to break.
Failure to follow these instructions could cause your zips to break.
Tops & Bottoms Care
How should I wash my EQUIDRY tops and bottoms?
For washing base layers, zip ups, leggings, and breeches, machine wash inside out with similar colours on a cold cycle. This gentle approach helps preserve the performance fabrics, elasticity, and colours across all items.
Can I use fabric conditioner or tumble dry these items?
No. For base layers, zip ups, leggings, and breeches, avoid using fabric conditioner, tumble drying, hot washes, and dry cleaning as these can damage the technical materials and reduce breathability, stretch, and water resistance.
How can I maintain the fabric’s protection and performance?
We recommend adding Grangers Wash + Repel liquid every 3–5 washes to help maintain the fabric’s water repellency and protective qualities.
Can I iron these EQUIDRY garments?
If ironing is needed, use a cool iron only and avoid printed areas or logos. Do not expose your base layers, zip ups, leggings, or breeches to direct heat or sunlight for prolonged periods.
What is the best way to wash and dry my waterproof trousers?
Washing:
Waterproof trousers are easy to maintain and often don't require a full machine wash. For light dirt or mud, simply wipe them down with a damp cloth or hose them off. For grease-based marks, spot clean using washing-up liquid.
When a deeper clean is needed, machine wash at a maximum of 30°C using Nikwax Tech Wash, which is specially designed to clean waterproof garments without damaging their protective coating. Avoid using fabric softeners, hot washes, or dry cleaning, as these can reduce the effectiveness of the waterproofing.
Drying:
After washing, it’s vital to let your trousers dry naturally in a warm, well-ventilated space. Avoid tumble drying, placing them near or on direct heat sources (like radiators), or exposing them to direct sunlight, as this can damage the fabric and its waterproof properties.
Once fully dry, reapply a suitable waterproof reproofing spray to maintain performance and protection.
Horse Rug & Blanket Care
Can I machine wash my EQUIDRY blanket, horse rug, or dog coat?
EQUIDRY blankets, horse rugs, and dog coats are machine washable up to 30°C, but often a simple wipe down or hose off with a damp cloth is enough for day-to-day cleaning. For grease-based marks, spot clean using washing-up liquid.
What should I use for a deep clean of my EQUIDRY blankets and rugs?
When a deeper clean is needed, we recommend using Nikwax Tech Wash to effectively remove dirt without damaging the fabric.
Do I need to reproof my EQUIDRY blankets, horse rugs or dog coats after washing?
Yes. After washing, it's important to apply a reproofing spray suitable for outdoor blankets and rugs to restore the item’s waterproof properties and extend its lifespan.
How should I dry my EQUIDRY blanket and rugs?
Allow the item to fully dry in a warm, well-ventilated room, and avoid fabric conditioner, tumble drying, dry cleaning, or placing on/near direct heat sources. Also, keep away from direct sunlight, which can degrade the material over time.
Accessories Care
How should I wash EQUIDRY socks and gloves?
Wash your EQUIDRY socks and gloves inside out, either by hand or on a gentle machine cycle below 30°C to protect the fabric and waterproof membrane.
Do not use fabric softeners or harsh detergents, as these can damage the membrane and reduce breathability and performance.
After washing, dry naturally away from direct heat such as radiators or sunlight. Avoid tumble drying or using heated drying cabinets.
What’s the best way to clean EQUIDRY caps and beanies?
EQUIDRY bobble hats come with a removable pom pom, making them easier to wash. Remove the pom pom before cleaning, and wash by hand or on a gentle cycle, then air dry naturally away from direct heat.
